Call for Entry: Art About Reproductive Health Rights & Abortion

Communication is soliciting art for an exhibition around the theme of abortion and reproductive healthcare access. You can submit your art through this link.

Please note: this call for entry form requires a Google account. If you are unable to submit through that form, you can submit by emailing exhibitions@communicationmadison.com and an alternative application will be provided.

Entries are due by June 15.

Please submit any art related to the general theme. This can include paintings, protest signs, comics, zines, prints… There is no restriction on materials, although we recommend using discretion especially regarding size and quantity.

This call for entry is restricted to residents of Dane County.

This exhibition is being curated in conjunction with the event Ask for Jane: A Punk Rock Abortion Storytelling Project being held at Communication on June 22.

We will accept a certain number of pieces that meet Communication’s guidelines as determined by our Mission and House Rules. Beyond that we will accept pieces based on a lottery system.

There is no application fee.

Timeline:

  • Entries due by June 15, 2024

  • Communication Exhibitions team will reach out to those selected by June 22, 2024

  • Art must be received for installation by June 29, 2024

  • Gallery will open in early- to mid-July 2024 (precise date TBD)

Communication Part 2: Revelations is a reflective, introspective exploration of communication. It’s a complementary counter to the outward, community-oriented communication themes in Communication: Meaningful Connections. This second exhibition delves inward to focus not only how one communicates with oneself, but also how one discloses oneself and identity to others.

Into the Deep: Exploring Fear is a series of large scale paintings and painted woodcuts created by Sara Meredith (also known as @smeretactics). This series investigates many parallels between falling into the depths of the ocean, finding or changing oneself, processing emotions and dealing with dark times. This specific exhibition focuses on processing fear, both personal and community wide.
