COMMUNICATION STUDIOS
Submission Form: Open Call for Communication Studios
Communication Studios are peer-to-peer and community-led art sessions open to facilitation by artists at varying levels of experience. These studios are part of Communication’s commitment to providing access to creative spaces for all.
We will be collecting submissions from July 14th to July 25th. We will review submissions the following week before reaching out regarding next steps. We will then reach out to artists in August to begin planning for the season. Any unselected submissions may be kept on file for future studios. Priority for submissions may be given to current and active Communication volunteers and community members.
You will be leading a One-Time Facilitated Studio
For facilitated studios, the host (that’s you!) will guide participants through a particular project, skill, or activity. Past studios have centered around jewelry making, polymer clay, mending, etc.
We encourage the facilitator to charge using a suggested donation amount or sliding scale. The payout will be 70% for the artist, with 30% going to Communication. Upon selection, the Communication team will work with you to determine the right fee structure for your studio.
The success of studio sessions will depend on the availability of volunteers who can set the space up, prepare A/V, and collect money at the door. The facilitator is expected to help with these tasks to the best of their ability. Communication arts team and volunteer coordinators are also here to help ensure you have the support you need.
Facilitators will be expected to help in creating promotional materials for their studio and promote on social media and within their networks.
The Communication team will be in touch to discuss all logistics and coordinate specific plans and expectations if a studio is accepted! We cannot wait to hear your ideas!
