Blanky embodies the languor left of a perfect day gone past. After listening to the Lawrence, Kansas based four piece you’re left with a residual feeling of warmth. Something similar to the lingering effect of a sunny yesterday. Their midwestern origins and minimalist compositions compliment one another quite naturally. Their music conjures up scenes of a stereotypical Kansas summer. Unending plains. Interstate diners. Smoky old pool halls and golden hour sunlight. While the soft/loud/soft dynamics of their songs may be a nod to the likes of The Pixies or The Breeders, Blanky has avoided being pigeonholed to any one genre and have managed to successfully land upon a musical aesthetic which incorporates a myriad of underground sounds from genres including surf, new-wave, goth, western and dreampop. While the music can be easy listening at some moments and more dissonant at others, the lyrical narratives hold your attention the whole way through.
