Liam Grant and Ethan WL play in the American Primitive style – mixing the traditional country blues fingerstyle folk idiom with unexpected composition and improvisational methods. These two artists use the guitar as a narrative vehicle to create short form symphonies, modal epics, and driving up tempo rags. Their styles have been both informed and inspired by traditional American music including; country blues, blue grass, and old time music; and their personal reflections and relationships with the New England landscape and sense of place.
Based in Nashua, New Hampshire, Liam Grant is an instrumental guitar player with a punk ethos, cut from the American Primitive cloth. He made his debut in 2021 with his album "Swung Heavy: Gitarr for Fanatics," released through the Sound-O-Mat, which was met with seemingly endless touring through 2022 both solo and with seasoned veterans such as Mike Gangloff (Pelt, Black Twig Pickers). A split 7-inch single with Gangloff was released in January, and his album "Amoskeag" is in the process of being released through Carbon Records and Feeding Tube Records.

Spiral Joy Band are one of the descendants of Richmond VA's legendary musical juggernaut, Pelt. Active and mutating for over 20 years, this iteration of the Spiral Joy Band will be Patrick Best and Dan Woodman and possibly others. SJB produces lush tapestries of the multiphonic drones for which they are known. They are open-ended musical discussions about the existence of infinity, and how portions of infinite space might be corralled in ways that suggest continuously expanding horizons. exquisite and function equally well as Furniture Music (as defined by Eric Satie) or active meditation fields, unveiling endless spools of drone in which a listener can wallow deeply. The closer you listen, the more you'll be able to hear. But even as a 'mere' soundtrack to the day the Spiral Joy band offers the kind of textural beauty that makes everything feel better. Spiral Joy Band are sonic explorers dedicated to very specific corner of the universe, but it's one that contains the sort of magical powers we all need more than ever.
