Events Team

We’re searching for new core collective volunteers to work with our Events Team to support all phases of live events including booking, scheduling, liaising with performers, and managing shows on-site during these events. The Events Team also handles promotional strategy, and liaising with others in the community to build Communication’s reputation as an all-ages, sober, and accessible venue.

This is a great team to be a part of if you’re passionate about DIY live music in Madison!

About the role:

  • This role will likely require around 12-15 hours a month, depending on booking volume and events support schedule

  • Support booking, scheduling, and liaising between performers and the venue

  • Promotional strategy and execution (flyers, social media, and other promo avenues)

  • Attend events (up to 1-2 or more per month depending on volume and need) and act as primary Communication point of contact

  • At events, work the door (greeting/taking admittance) and learn the sound board and audio setup, train and coach volunteers

  • Determine and work toward short- and long-term goals for live events and booking at Communication

In addition to the expectations outlined for their area, all of our Core Collective members are expected to:

  • Attend Core Collective meetings (typically once/month)

  • Communicate with Core Collective and volunteers on Slack (phone/website app) and via Communication email address

  • Coordinate within the group to facilitate use of our shared physical space

  • Collaborate with the other Collective members to work toward Communication’s overall vision and long-term programming goals

  • Share responsibility for the upkeep of our space, including attending periodic organizing days
