Welcome back to our third Zine Out Loud, a comics-reading extravaganza that includes readers not just Wisconsin but far flung locations like Minnesota and Chicago. Our headliner this time around is the great Sam Szabo (@brainboogerindustries). We will have readings from Amparro/Pablo Aquiles Sanchez, Alyssa Cohen Rooks, E Joy Mehr, Mo Junker, Rats Jo, Tracey Bullington/Roy G Biv.
This event will be followed by a zine swap/sale, so make sure to bring zines of your own in case others are amenable to a trade.
Doors at 5 PM, reading at 6 PM.
Sam Szabo is a veteran alternative cartoonist hailing from Chicago.
You may know Sam Szabo (@brainboogerindustries) from her graphic novel Enlightened Transsexual Comix, her comics series "Comics Will Break Your Balls" and "Girl Hell," or her raw annual hourly comics (the finest of their kind). You might have also seen her at one of dozens of zine/comics festivals around the US or, hell, even on a visit to MoMA. You might know her from… today! by going on her instagram and seeing years of insane analog cartooning.
Sam’s unmistakable thick lined brush and ink drawing style and her funny, honest, gag-y writing about the grind of everyday life make her an underground-cartoonist par excellence. She’s also a seasoned performer who we are so lucky to have join the Zine Out Loud family.
